2026Brand identity for Living Rent’s Bring Rents Down, Stop Evictions campaign.
The campaign is taking place post the passing of the rent controls bill in the Scottish Parliament. The earliest the housing bill (and rent controls) will take effect and have an impact will be autumn 2027 or early 2028. The bill itself has huge amounts of exemptions, notably to mid-market properties, build-to-rent developments, properties where the landlord has kept the rent below market rate and properties where the landlord renovates them.
Right now, landlords are increasing rents annually in order to get ahead of the bill. Tenants have already been hit hard by huge rent increases, particularly in the central belt (104% since 2010 in Edinburgh). And with evictions, huge numbers of people leave as soon as they receive an eviction notice, without waiting for an eviction order or knowing they can fight it. The aim of this campaign is to shift the narrative to focus on landlords hiking up rent and forcing people to leave their homes.Logo and Brand Identity for Living Rent
